Why Volunteer?
“I’ve helped set up 4 homes now, I’m averaging 1 a fortnight and hoping to keep that up, I just need to be faster in seeing the posts on Facebook and replying hahaha!!
I find it so rewarding, knowing I’ve helped someone start a new life with one less stress - furnishing an entire dwelling.
Mandy has been the team leader at all 4 I’ve done and her attention to detail when putting the bedroom linen together is amazing. The colour coordination with accent pillows and blankets makes every bedroom look put together with such thought and care, which I’m sure the recipient appreciates.
I’ve never felt unsafe at a set-up, the info in the group message beforehand is very detailed and when onsite we do a quick run-down of the rules and lock the door after everything has been brought in. We always have a good chat and laugh while setting up too!
I’ve been making curtains and giving them to Mandy fortnightly and I’ve dropped off items to Mt Gravatt and Helensvale storage sheds, and put bags of items on the truck to go back to base.
Nicolle and all the organizers have made it so easy to volunteer and donate items, I don’t have to horde things for months and months.
Overall I’m very happy to be helping this organization when and where I can”
